Project Overview
This project in Centreville, Maryland focused on creating a comfortable outdoor gathering space with built-in seating, defined patio areas, and subtle lighting for evening use. The yard already had open space, but it needed structure and features that made it feel intentional and usable throughout the day and night.
We installed a paver patio using large-format concrete pavers laid in a clean, consistent pattern. A darker border was used throughout the space to frame the patio edges and visually separate walking and seating zones. Modular seat walls were added to provide permanent seating and help define the layout without closing the space in.
A vertical stone water feature was built into the center of the hardscape, surrounded by decorative stone and accent lighting. Integrated low-voltage lights were installed in the seat walls and around key features to improve visibility after dark while adding a soft, ambient glow. Garden beds were finished around the patio with fresh plantings to soften the hardscape and tie everything into the surrounding lawn.
Base preparation and grading were completed carefully to ensure proper drainage and long-term stability. The finished space feels balanced, inviting, and easy to maintain, giving the homeowners a backyard they can enjoy both during the day and in the evening.
